Gum Paste Flowers

Here are some of the flowers I have made. There are all made with gum paste which is great for flowers, but not for eating!

Easter Cake Pops!!!

This Easter I decided to make some cake pops to bring to the different places we were visiting that day. I made bunnies and decorated eggs. The bunnies are made with confetti cake and the eggs are made with strawberry cake. With both I used buttercream icing.
I used a bunny silicone mold for the bunnies and painted on the ears with pink candy melts. I used a candy writer to make the mouth and whiskers and used some melts to stick on a confetti nose.
I shaped the eggs by hand and used different color candy melts to cover and decorate them. I also used candy sprinkles and confetti to decorate them.

First Cake Sale (and second one)! Mustache Cake and Banana Shaped Cake Pops

The first cake I made to sell was a mustache cake and smash cake for a friend's son's first birthday. The cake is frosted with buttercream and fondant mustaches are placed on the sides and top. The mustaches are colored to match the decor.

With the decor at the party. It ended up matching perfectly!

My next cake sale was actually cake pops for a Despicable Me minion themed party. I made cake pops that looked like bananas.

Daviel's 2nd Birthday!

I decided to make Daviel's birthday cake again this past November. Since his cousin's birthday is 2 days before his, we had a joint party and I made a cake for each of them. They both love cars and trains, so I decided to make the party a Cars and Thomas the Train party.

I made a fondant covered Cars cake in the likeness of Lightning McQueen and iced another with frosting to look like Thomas the Train.

First Fondant Cakes

There are my first 2 fondant covered cakes! I really like fondant!

I covered this cake with yellow fondant and topped it with gum paste lilies and leaves. The border on the bottom is fondant pearls.

This next cake is covered in pink fondant with a fondant pink bow and pink fondant ribbon. The white pearls on the ribbon and border are white fondant.

Buttercream Cake with Roses

Here is a cake frosted with butterflies and topped with royal icing roses. I made the roses with royal icing on a rose nail and then put them on the cake using a flower lifter.

Basket Weave Cake with Gum Paste Flowers

This cake has a buttercream basket weave with gum paste flowers and leaves. The flowers are button flowers.

Wilton Courses: Cake with a Cupcake

In August 2013, while working at my second job, Michaels, I decided to take the Wilton cake decorating classes. I'm so glad I did! I've learned a lot and it renewed my interest in decorating cakes. Here are some of the cakes I made while taking these courses.

Cupcakes we made in our first class

I made this cake at the end of course 1. It is a yellow cake with a strawberry filling.

My First Cake

I made my first decorated cake for my son's first birthday party! This was in Nov 2012. I looked up baby block cakes online for inspiration. Here is how they turned out.

I used square cake pans and the big one is actually 2 two layer cakes with cardboard and dowel supports. They are iced with decorators icing that I colored with icing colors. They were a hit at the party!

I made a smash cake for my day smash cake photo session and to just practice before the actual party. This is how it came out!
